Born in Tampa, FL in 1975, I, LIFE Malcolm, am a full-time writer community organizer and owner of Word Power Publications, LLC.
I am frequently requested to speak at forums and sit on panels to discuss critical issues in the African community because of the scope of his work on police brutality and community organizing. I have recorded three CDs and written one book. I have performed in dozens of cities across the country and a few places around the world, including London and Paris. I currently live in Tampa.
As the first full-time spoken word artist in Tampa Bay, I single-handedly changed the landscape of live entertainment, in Tampa Bay.
For decades, after the glorious period of the sixties, when many legendary musicians regularly performed, in Tampa Bay, popular appreciation for live entertainment, in the area, waned.
When I began performing, in 2003, for large audiences of variant echelons, a resurgence of appreciation for the performing arts blossomed.
I conceptualized and produced large-scale spoken word shows, that drew hundreds of attendees every time, along with leading Black On Black Rhyme Tampa, the largest, longest running Spoken Word/Open Mic, in Tampa Bay, from September 18, 2001 to January 1, 2013, .
I hope those successful endeavors inspired other promoters, of live entertainment (poetry, jazz, even comedy!) in Tampa Bay.
